This MAJOR NEWS showed up up in my inbox yesterday so it’s already REALLY OLD NEWS, but goddamn if I’m not MORE EXCITED NOW (okay done sorry) than I was when I first read that Jack White’s first solo album comes out on April 24.
It’s called Blunderbuss, it was recorded at White’s Third Man Studios in Nashville, and if this first single “Love Interruption” is any indication, it’s a coolly pissed off homage to post-divorce rage/heartbreak done in the country mellow tradition of Zeppelin III.
Sings White: “I want love to roll me over slowly, stick a knife inside me and twist it all around/I want love to grab my fingers gently, slam them in a doorway, put my face into the ground/I want love to murder my own mother and take her off to somewhere like hell or up above, and I want love to change my friends to enemies, change my friends to enemies and show me how it’s all my fault.”
I believe I know how he feels, except that I don’t want anything bad to happen to my mom.
Thanks to Ali Miller for the heads up.
