jam of the day:
Heard this song on the radio just now and thought, “this sounds a lot like Radiohead,” and then had this intense flood of emotionally resonant memories come back in a rush and wasn’t sure why. Then I realized that it wasn’t Radiohead, (although the song, Over the Ocean, and the album it comes from, A Different Ship, was produced by Radiohead collaborator Nigel Goodrich), but Here We Go Magic, a group whose eponymous LP I listened to over and over and over (especially Fangela) in the spring/summer of 2010 when I was living for a spell in Big Sur and spending my days writing and laying in the sun on the cliffs over the Pacific and spending my nights dancing in yurts, after which I flew to Munich and proceeded to Switzerland and Spain and lived a whole lot of fairytale in those places too.
I realize that was a ridiculous run on sentence and that this post might not even make sense. Just know that this song is making me feel and think of things I haven’t felt or thought of for a while, and that music’s power to make me do so is the fundamental reason why I love it.
